Facebook VIRUS Warning!!!
I just got a real Facebook message in my email, AND my facebook inbox from my sister in law that read:
Hey, some jerk has posted your pictures (u understand what kind of pictures are there) and sent a link of them to all ur friends. I have already replied back. Said, that he is an indiot. See the link:

Love.....

When you visit the site, it runs an application and I don't know what happens if you install the program, but I am sure it would only harm your computer, and probably send out the same message to all your Facebook Contacts and maybe your email contacts as well.
So be very careful, and do not just go clicking on links sent to you from your friends, rather, try emailing them back and ask them if they wanted to send you something. If a friend just sent you a message a moment ago, chances are they would be online on Facebook Chat. You could quickly ping em and ask them if they meant to send you something or not.
I am not sure if this is a VIRUS, or a TROJAN, but in either case, be very careful and save your computer. Just to make sure you are protected, TAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR COMPUTER NOW to ensure data loss protection.
If you know anything more about this, please post a comment so we could help keep others safe by spreading the word and suggesting solutions and precautions.
What to do if your computer gets hit with Adware, Spyware, Trojan or VIRUS?
If you got late in reaching this post, don't panic. There is still a lot you could do, and this is what I would suggest*:
1. Take a backup of your important files on an external drive.
2. Scan your computer with a reputed product like "Anti-Virus Plus" to see if your computer has been affected or not. (Using the button below you could get "Anti-Virus Plus").
3. Fix your Computer's Registry. Use the below Registry Scanner to scan your registry for errors:
And make sure you spread the word by informing your friends and family about this VIRUS. You can send them to this page by sending them this URL: http://www.raakesh.com/facebook-virus-warning
* The above suggestion is based on steps I would take to ensure my computer is safe and protected and those steps, products and techniques have worked for me. I am not an expert at fixing and eliminating computer VIRUS and other malicious programs. I shall not be responsible for any loss, whatsoever, as a result of following these instructions.
I just got one of these messages in my inbox. It looked suspicious and the tone of the note didn't sound like my friend who it supposedly came from. I did not click on the link.
Thanks for the upfront on this one. I've been telling my friends and family about this kind of stuff for years and no one listens. So, I keep getting invites on my FaceBook wall to join this or get that, and it makes me sick, because I am there to communicate with friends and family only. And to build rapport with affiliated colleagues.
I will pass this around to my family and associates and encourage everyone else to do the same. Thanks in advance!
The good news is that not everything is harmful. All the requests you get regarding groups, fan pages, games, applications, etc may all be totally fine. However, be very very careful clicking on a link to an external site, which means a page not hosted on Facebook.com. One good thing Facebook offers, is an alert, when you try to click on a 3rd party link from your message inbox. So if you get those prompts, hit cancel and go back.
When a contact sends me a link, I usually send them an email from my email address asking if they intended to send me the message and that is what saved me this time with the Facebook VIRUS, though I had to use my test computer, to go to the link and notice that I was being prompted to download and run a 3rd party program file.
So avoid clicking on 3rd party links and you'll be safe.
