A little about my love for photography

Photography and Travel go hand in hand. Whenever I am traveling, you'll see my Canon 40D or a Sony DSC-V3 in my hand.
Picturing sunsets from 30,000 feet has it's own charm, specially if you are sitting on a wing:)

I am an aspiring photographer. Being a programmer I do not get a lot of time to go out and shoot, but whenever I get a chance, you'll see me on the move. I love nature photography the most and am amazed at the billions of subjects Mother Nature has given us for admiration and appreciation. However, I also love to take pictures of monuments, buildings, statues, paintings and any other form of art. Sometimes I even fall in love with someone else's pictures that I just have to take a picture of it as well.

Statue of Liberty I started learning about photography back in 1997 when I desperately wanted to get a picture clicked of myself 4 feet above the ground on my motorcycle. This is when I just started racing. A few of my friends tried real hard but could not get the shot I wanted, sometimes the picture would just blur, or would not capture me correctly. That instance made me realize of how difficult photography really is. We used to see hundreds of motorcycle action pictures in the magazines everyday and thought it was just piece of cake, but we could not get even one shot after trying so hard. That is when my father introduced me to his Canon SLR (Film - 35mm). He taught me how to control the shutter speed and aperture to take reasonable shots. After that, I got my first digital camera - Olympus (3.2 mp) and I shot all that I could with full enthusiasm. When I felt the need to upgrade my camera, I got myself a Sony DSC-V3 (an amazing camera) and now I own a Canon 40D Digital SLR. It will be a long while before I get ready for another upgrade as this camera is one serious machine.

I shoot for fun and enjoy every moment of it. Some of my pictures have been published at various web and print media including The Schmap East Coast Second Edition and wikipedia.

Somewhere in the west ... Traveling is a treat for photographers and I have learned over the period of time that the more you travel, the better chances you have to get some great pictures. But traveling alone does not promise any pictures either, you need to understand natural light and it's effect on the subject you are willing to shoot. Sunlight (another gift of Nature) is an unmatched effect that can not be replicated with any internal / external flash. Pictures taken during dawn and dusk come out really awesome as compared to pictures taken during daylight. Due to these reasons I try and plan my travel according to the season, like Fall pictures really come out amazing in morning light or during dusk. So I will plan a weekend trip to somewhere nice during the fall this year to get some nice fall pictures. Just so you be aware, I have not seen a better Fall than the USA anywhere else. The colors are magnificent and if you happen to be flying during the fall, the landscape from a bird's view is simply unbelievable. You can see variations in the color of the land every few meters. When I first came to US, it was during the Fall season, my flight reached JFK at 8AM, the last two hours of my flight were simply outstanding. I was overwhelmed with the beauty of the colors of Fall.
